We do that here in Jersey too. Plastic free jersey. Yes I do it by bike in our country lanes all the time.

okay - all these clean up drives- where does this picked up waste go? pls stop promoting clean ups like they are doing anyone any good. it is the most cosmetic exercise ever, as cosmetic as banning straws

Should not only be beaches, ONE piece of rubbish a day is all it takes from anywhere you walking and teach kids to bin it or pocket it till they can get rid properly

Nice idea, but the real answer is to stop making waste. Enough of disposable products and plastic.

I now live in a seaside community. I haven't been to the beaches yet - too busy moving and settling in..... but now I will NEVER hit the beach without several bags for trash!!!

If everyone picked up their own trash, other people wouldn't have to clean up after them.

Don't just do it at the beach. Go to the local villages and show the local people how to pick up the mess they have around their places. Go to the source. This might have a much stronger impact!

We do it all the time! Some years ago there used to be much more trash on beaches we visit in São Paulo state, Brazil. People try to educate each other as well, locals are really aware about this issue - even though in high season tourists litter all around :( All in all, there is progress on this part of the Brazilian coast <3
