So these ships are dumping sulphur into a sea which is already becoming more acidic with increased CO2 absorption.... Well that has been well thought out ! Sulphur will make the oceans more acidic... Obviously no one was thinking about the microorganisms which it is estimated produce 50 - 80% of our oxygen which live in the sea... Pumping Sulphur into the air is bad as a pollutant, but pumping it into the sea is far worse....

Yes, we need to stop this. We also need to stop the way of luxury life and wasting tons and tons of energy/fuel / water. The earth is going on crysis already. Thats why the good side of Covid 19 is, when people stop traveling so much, environment got better, animal started to appear more often, this is how wrong we were all this time. We dont need travel that much, we dont need flying that much, we dont need cruising at all. Big companies/ travel companies make us think we need those luxury cruising/ traveling, we dont actually, if u have so much money, spending it in helping people/ animal/environment. Traveling is great and all but we dont have to do it in luxury way. The earth is at limited because of our luxury habitat

They will only make changes if they are made to do it. We need them to change NOW!

I travel with P&O cruises they have brought in Iona the first ship to be liquid natural gas that produces half the emissions of other older ships,as much as I do want to help the environment, holidays on cruises is the easiest way for me in a wheelchair to have a truly nice and chilled out and totally switched off holiday, hopefully they will produce electric-gas Hybrids in the not so distant future...

Stop cruises all together. They are nothing. but pollutants. Time sail back into harbour and stay there.

Toxic discharges? Bullshit. To much to loose for the owner to pollute the water. Cruise ships mosty trades close to shore, which means that many years ago their sulphur content in fuel (air pollution? Nah.) was below those ships which are trading worldwide nonstop. You can not even imagine with how many rules shipping industry is involved every hour all around the world.

The picture is what bunker fuel looks like. It is the fuel that cruise line ships use.
