5 foods we will be eating on Mars

The possibility of relocating to Mars might be closer than we think. Here are five foods that will be available on the red planet.

Living on Mars?

Mars, one of the closest planets to Earth, has always captured the attention of any and all interested in space. While the possibility of life and water is possible but not certain on this red planet, movies like The Martian (2013) and Stranded (2001) have got everyone thinking about what life would really be like if humans lived on the planet. While several countries have commenced robotic trips to Mars, the first rovers to land on Mars and successfully transmit data were the U.S.’s Viking 1 and Viking 2 in 1975.

“I can give you my personal impression which is that a mission to Mars in the close future is realistic. I think the technological and psychological obstacles can be overcome,” French HI-SEAS crew member Cyprien Verseux informs Agence France-Presse news outlet.

Since it is 140 million miles from Earth, fresh supplies would only be available to any humans who live there every few years. There are many elements to consider when packing food for the long space journey: longevity, nutritional content, variety of dishes, genetic modifications, lack of crumbs/spillage, and whether or not it would need to be rationed. The top five foods suggested may surprise you as they differ from the foods NASA provides astronauts headed for the moon which include but are not limited to: soups, puddings, chicken, cereals, eggs, and applesauce.

What’s on the menu?

In 2016, members of the HI-SEAS team on a year-long isolation trip on Hawaii in preparation for a hypothetical trip to Mars used pre-cooked meat to create several dishes over the course of the year. Like Matt Damon's garden in The Martian (2013), certain plants and vegetables would actually be able to grow in Martian soil. A certain dessert spread was so highly prized by test subjects that it would have to be rationed in any space exhibition.

Transport algea near the polar caps where there is enough moisture, and culture the algea there to excrete the carbon dioxide atmosphere and relase oxygen to the atmosphere of Mars, before sending colonies of good folk just to survive with extreme difficulty. ..... Imagination. Who lives in a pineape under the sea? Sponge Bob Square Pants! Sponge Bob Square Pants! Sponge Bob Square Pants! Arghahahaha, ai-ai Captain!

It's atmosphere is CO2, no ozone, no van Allen belt , yea no protection from cosmic and UV rays, radiation and they expect ppl are dying to live there? You can't add an atmosphere to a dead planet or one that lost it's atmosphere from cosmic and solar winds, Mars core was too small, it cooled off ,solidified and it's gravity to weak to maintain it's water and atmosphere ,leaving the heavier gas , co2, behind..

Mars is bombarded with deadly radiation since it has no magnetic field like earth. Save the Earth and forget Mars except to possibly mine minerals.

There is enough practical work to be done here that those scientists should be working on - rather then sinking tons of time and money on a theoretical.
