They can't just give women the nominations if the movies or show aren't the best.

You can't expect them to add women to the nominations just for equality, you have to earn your nomination. And none of those "critically acclaimed" films were any good, ill be surprised if anybody's even heard of half of them. Now show the films of the people that were nominated and you'll see why.

why does social media always try to make everything into a giant conspiracy against women? maybe the shows were not the best movies? ever think about that? Its the same stupid thinking that says women in movies should be paid the same amount as the men..... how about the top star makes the money, why? because they are the ones who people go to see. Remember Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher in the romantic comedy "no strings attached"? she made a big deal about her wage not being the same, sorry but you were not the one people were going to watch. Sure there is a very small percentage of Portman fans who go to watch all her shows, but in that movie it was all about Ashton, one of the sexiest men alive at the time. So why should a studio have to pay her as much? they could've put 100 different ladies in her role and made the same money. You want more money, be the bigger draw. You want the Oscar, be the better movie.

Director Ava DuVernay understands the importance of her voice as a black, female director in Hollywood.
