Republican Congresswoman proposes renaming Black Lives Matter Plaza in D.C. after Charlie Kirk. The proposal would rename the section of 16th Street Northwest between H Street Northwest and K Street Northwest, currently called Black Lives Matter Plaza, to "Charlie Kirk Freedom of Speech Plaza." The plaza became a significant area for protests following George Floyd’s death in 2020. It was eventually painted with large yellow letters reading “BLACK LIVES MATTER,” and the D.C. City Council officially designated it Black Lives Matter Plaza.
