The U.S. Department of Defense has released footage from inside the eye of Hurricane Melissa, the strongest hurricane on record to hit Jamaica. The Category 5 storm reached sustained winds of 175 mph as it moved toward land, recorded on Monday October. 27, and is described by a U.N. agency as the “storm of the century.” The footage and weather data were captured by the U.S. Air Force Reserve crew from the 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron, known as the “Hurricane Hunters.”
