Lucky Oberoi, a leader of the Aam Aadmi Party, was shot dead in a targeted attack outside a gurdwara in Jalandhar on Thursday morning.

The attack took place at around 7.55 am on 6 February, shortly after Oberoi exited the gurdwara. According to police, two assailants arrived at the location on a scooter and opened fire at him from close range.

Police officials said Oberoi was seated inside his Thar vehicle when the attackers fired at least five rounds. The bullets shattered the windows of the vehicle, leaving him critically injured.

He was rushed to a private hospital in critical condition, where doctors attempted emergency medical treatment. However, Oberoi later succumbed to his injuries.

Senior police officials stated that the case is being investigated from all angles. These include the possibility of personal enmity as well as potential political rivalry. Further details are awaited as the investigation continues.
