A video of Rakhi Sawant talking about her career, struggles and ambitions is gaining renewed attention online.

The video is from a Humans of Bombay interview published on 24 November 2025. In the conversation, Rakhi has a direct message for Netflix.

“Netflix people, listen carefully to what I have to say,” she says, before asking the streaming platform to give her a web series. She also talks about wanting to do comedy and have a talk show of her own.

The clip has brought a months-old request back into the spotlight.

But Rakhi’s Netflix pitch did not come out of nowhere.

Her career has already taken her from Bollywood films and dance performances to reality television, hosting and digital entertainment. Over the years, the platforms have changed, but she has continued to find ways to make herself part of the format.

And there is now another chapter to that story.

In 2026, Netflix India began featuring Rakhi in social-media content around its reality programming.

Here is how she got there.

Her Bollywood Beginnings

Rakhi Sawant made her film debut in Agnichakra in 1997, credited as Ruhi Sawant.

She went on to appear in films including Joru Ka Ghulam, Yeh Raaste Hain Pyaar Ke and Chura Liyaa Hai Tumne, while also building a parallel career through dance performances.

One of her early recognisable Bollywood appearances came with the song “Mohabbat Hai Mirchi” from Chura Liyaa Hai Tumne in 2003.

A year later, she appeared in Farah Khan’s Main Hoon Na.

The film became another important step in her mainstream career.

But it was television that would give Rakhi a very different relationship with her audience.

2006: Bigg Boss Changed The Format

In 2006, Rakhi appeared in the first season of Bigg Boss.

The reality show gave audiences an extended look at her outside a film role or dance performance.

They were watching Rakhi herself: her conversations, reactions and relationships inside the house.

It was an important shift in her career.

She was no longer being seen only through a character or a song.

Her personality had become part of the entertainment format.

Rakhi would return to Bigg Boss years later, including as a challenger on Bigg Boss 14 and a wildcard entrant on Bigg Boss 15. She also appeared on Bigg Boss Marathi 4.

By then, reality television had become one of the most recognisable parts of her career.

2009: Rakhi Ka Swayamvar Put Her At The Centre

In 2009, Rakhi became the central figure of Rakhi Ka Swayamvar.

The reality show followed her search for a prospective husband. In the finale, she selected Elesh Parujanwala from the finalists.

The format was significant because Rakhi herself was the premise.

She was not simply participating in a reality show.

The show was built around her.

It was also an early example of how her personal life, celebrity identity and ability to perform for an audience could come together in one television format.

2010: She Became A Host

The following year, Rakhi hosted Rakhi Ka Insaaf on Imagine TV.

The programme featured members of the public bringing personal disputes and problems to the show, with Rakhi taking on the role of host and agony aunt.

The show later became the subject of a legal controversy after the death of a participant who had appeared on the programme.

An FIR followed, and the Allahabad High Court subsequently dealt with proceedings arising from the case. The court's own records show that arrest protection was granted in connection with the FIR.

That legal history is separate from Rakhi's wider career trajectory, but it was one of the moments that showed how closely her television persona and public life had become connected.

Reality Television Became A Career Of Its Own

Rakhi continued to work across non-fiction television.

She appeared in dance and comedy formats, hosted programmes and repeatedly returned to reality television.

Her television career included Nach Baliye, Rakhi Ka Swayamwar, Rakhi Ka Insaaf and multiple editions of Bigg Boss.

That range matters when looking at her career today.

Rakhi has rarely stayed confined to one format.

She has moved between being a performer, contestant, host, judge and central personality.

The medium changed.

Her ability to adapt to it did not.

The Personal Story Became Part Of The Public Story

Rakhi has also spent years speaking openly about her life.

In the Humans of Bombay interview, she discusses her childhood, her family, financial pressures, her career and the difficulties she says she faced while trying to establish herself in Bollywood.

The interview's description says it covers her struggles, family responsibilities, casting-couch experiences and the less glamorous side of her career.

At one point, Rakhi describes herself as having become an “ATM machine” for her family.

The conversation moves between difficult memories and humour.

That combination has become an important part of how Rakhi communicates with audiences.

It is also central to the kind of entertainment format she says she wants next.

November 2025: Rakhi Asked Netflix For Her Own Show

This brings us to the moment that is now circulating again.

In the 24 November 2025 Humans of Bombay interview, Rakhi directly addressed Netflix.

She asked the platform for her own web series.

She also spoke about wanting to do comedy and having a talk show of her own.

At that point, it was a public request.

There was no announcement that Netflix had commissioned such a programme.

But months later, Rakhi and Netflix would cross paths again.

2026: Netflix Put Rakhi At The Centre Of Its Social Content

In 2026, Netflix India began featuring Rakhi in social-media content connected to its reality programming.

One of the clearest examples came with Desi Bling.

Netflix shared a Rakhi-led reaction video in which she commented on moments involving Karan Kundrra and Tejasswi Prakash. Her reactions were subsequently reported by multiple entertainment outlets after the Netflix India post gained attention.

The collaboration was more than a passing appearance.

A member of the creative team involved in the campaign later said the video had crossed 15 million views on Instagram and 1 million on YouTube in less than a week. Those figures were campaign-reported rather than independently verified platform analytics.

Netflix then used Rakhi again for content around Lock Upp.

Its YouTube channel has published multiple Rakhi-led videos, including “Rakhi Sawant Is HEARTBROKEN By The Inmates In Their Fifth Week”, “Rakhi Sawant's HILARIOUS AWARDS For The Inmates After Week Four” and “Rakhi Sawant BRUTALLY Roasts The Lock Upp Inmates In Their Third Week”.

That makes the Netflix connection more substantial than a single promotional clip.

Rakhi has appeared repeatedly in content built around the platform's reality programming.

But These Are Not Netflix Shows Starring Rakhi

There is an important distinction here.

Netflix has not announced a Rakhi Sawant original series based on these appearances.

The Desi Bling and Lock Upp videos are social-media and promotional content connected to existing Netflix programming.

Rakhi is being brought in as a personality and commentator rather than being announced as the star or contestant of those shows.

But the format is still notable.

She is being given space to react, perform, comment and bring her own personality to Netflix's digital audience.

And that gives her November 2025 request a new context.

From Asking Netflix For A Show To Appearing On Its Platforms

In November 2025, Rakhi asked Netflix for a show.

In 2026, Netflix began putting her at the centre of social-media content around its reality programming.

That is not the same as Netflix commissioning the show she asked for.

But it does show that the platform has already found a use for the particular kind of entertainment Rakhi brings to screen.

Her Desi Bling reaction, for instance, was built around her personality and commentary rather than a conventional acting role.

The Lock Upp videos followed a similar format, with Rakhi returning to react to developments across different weeks.

For someone who has spent years moving between different forms of entertainment, it is another example of the same career pattern.

Find a new format.

Step into it.

Make it your own.

The Legal Disputes That Have Followed Her Public Life

Rakhi's career has also included legal disputes that have received significant media attention.

In 2022, an FIR was registered against her in Mumbai following a complaint by actor Sherlyn Chopra. The Bombay High Court's April 2023 order records the case as involving allegations under Sections 354A, 500, 504 and 509 read with Section 34 of the IPC, as well as Section 67A of the Information Technology Act. The court granted Rakhi anticipatory bail, subject to conditions.

The court order records allegations made in the FIR; it does not amount to a finding of guilt.

Another significant legal dispute involved Rakhi's former husband, Adil Khan Durrani.

In October 2025, the Bombay High Court dealt with proceedings arising from the FIR Rakhi had filed against Durrani. The parties subsequently reached a settlement, and the court quashed the relevant proceedings after Rakhi gave her consent.

These episodes form part of Rakhi's public record, but they are distinct from the career progression that brought her to her latest Netflix request.

A Career Built Across Formats

Look at Rakhi Sawant's career chronologically and one pattern becomes clear.

She began with films and dance performances.

Television gave her a larger audience.

Bigg Boss allowed viewers to follow her as a personality rather than simply a performer.

Rakhi Ka Swayamvar made her the centre of an entire reality format.

Rakhi Ka Insaaf gave her a television platform of her own.

Later reality shows kept her connected with new audiences.

And now streaming has opened another space for her.

The platforms have changed.

The formats have changed.

But Rakhi has continued to adapt.

So, Will Rakhi Sawant Get Her Netflix Show?

For now, there is no announcement from Netflix that it has commissioned a Rakhi Sawant web series or talk show.

What exists is a request she made in November 2025, followed by multiple Netflix India social-media appearances in 2026.

The renewed attention around the Humans of Bombay interview has brought that original request back into focus.

And the timing gives it an interesting second chapter.

Rakhi did not begin her career with a guaranteed place in Bollywood.

She built visibility through films, dance and television, then became one of Indian reality television's most recognisable personalities.

Now she is appearing in content created for one of the country's biggest streaming audiences.

Whether Netflix eventually gives her the larger format she asked for remains to be seen.

But Rakhi Sawant has spent her career moving from one screen to the next, finding new ways to make herself part of the conversation.

This time, she wants the show to be hers.
