For years, Shahneel Gill was mostly known as Shubman Gill’s sister. She was often spotted in the stands cheering for the cricketer, but had largely stayed away from the spotlight herself.
That changed with her appearance on The Traitors Season 2. As one of the show's secret Traitors, Shahneel found herself at the centre of the game, making alliances, taking decisions and, eventually, raising questions about what was happening behind the scenes.
But there is more to Shahneel than her famous surname. From growing up in Punjab and studying in Canada to working there and building her own social media following, she had a life away from cricket long before reality TV.
So, who is Shahneel Gill beyond being Shubman Gill's sister?

Shahneel Gill was born on 16 December 1997 in Fazilka, Punjab. She grew up in Punjab and completed her schooling in Mohali before pursuing higher education in Chandigarh.
She later moved to Canada, where she studied Business Administration at Red River College Polytechnic in Winnipeg. Reports say she completed her diploma in 2019.
Her professional life also began in Canada.
According to her reported LinkedIn history, Shahneel worked with Canadian food-delivery company SkipTheDishes. She reportedly started as a customer service representative before moving into the role of Success Consultant.

The Gill family connection
For Indian cricket fans, however, Shahneel has always been closely associated with her younger brother, Shubman Gill.
Shahneel is the elder sister of the India cricketer, who rose through Punjab’s cricket system before making his mark at the international level.
Their parents are Lakhwinder Singh Gill and Keart Gill. Lakhwinder worked as an agriculturist, while Keart has been described as a homemaker.
The family moved to Mohali when Shubman was young so that he could get better access to cricket training. By the time his performances at the 2018 Under-19 World Cup brought him widespread attention, Shahneel was already in Canada.
She followed her brother’s progress from there, including his century against Pakistan at the tournament.
Their close relationship has remained visible over the years. Shahneel has regularly been seen at Shubman’s matches, supporting him from the stands and sharing occasional glimpses of their bond on social media.

From cricket stands to Instagram
While Shubman built his career on the cricket field, Shahneel gradually created a public identity of her own.
Her social media content largely revolves around fashion, travel, fitness and lifestyle. Her following has grown over the years, making her a familiar face to many cricket fans even outside the stadium.
At the same time, Shahneel has generally kept her personal life private.
That made her move into reality television an interesting new chapter.

Shahneel Gill in The Traitors
Shahneel entered The Traitors India Season 2 with a line that quickly set the tone for her role on the show: “My name is Gill, and I know how to kill.”
She was recruited as a Traitor alongside Krystle D'Souza, Kullu and Harman Singha.
As the game progressed, Shahneel became involved in the Traitors’ strategy, including decisions involving contestants such as Soundous Moufakir and Abhishek Malhan.
Before his exit, Abhishek had also identified Shahneel and Kullu as possible Traitors.
The game later took a controversial turn after Shahneel and Krystle alleged that Parul Gulati may have received information about the Traitors from a production staff member referred to as a “shadow”.
Shahneel described the alleged situation as “match fixing”. The claims were made during the show and have not been independently established.
Her time on The Traitors 2 has given audiences a different view of Shahneel. Rather than being introduced only through her connection to one of India’s biggest young cricketers, she is now being seen as a contestant with her own strategy, alliances and moments in the game.
