On 15 September 2026, Palghar Police registered a case against Shiv Sena corporator Hemlata Singh over allegations that a man was assaulted after he posted an objectionable comment on Facebook. How Did A Facebook Comment Lead To An Assault Case?
The case was registered at Tulinj police station in Nalasopara, Palghar district. Hemlata Singh, a Shiv Sena corporator of the Vasai-Virar City Municipal Corporation representing Ward 18 in Nalasopara, has been named in the case. The complainant is Dharmendra Vishwakarma.
According to police, the case stems from an objectionable comment Vishwakarma allegedly posted on Facebook. His complaint states that a man identified as Arjun Dubey called him to a hotel.
Vishwakarma alleged that Singh and her associate Amrish confronted him when he arrived. His complaint states that he was pushed and slapped before being beaten with bamboo sticks.
He also alleged that his gold chain was snatched and that his smartphone, valued at around Rs. 20,000, was taken during the incident.
Police have registered a case in connection with the complaint and also filed a cross-FIR in the dispute.

Who Is Hemlata Singh?
Hemlata Singh is a Shiv Sena corporator in the Vasai-Virar City Municipal Corporation.
She represents Ward 18 in Nalasopara. Police have named her in the case registered at Tulinj police station in connection with the alleged assault.
