A national pageant. A Google job. And, apparently, no long break in between.
Umanga Kumawat, who represented Madhya Pradesh at Miss Universe India 2026, is back at her day job at Google in Bengaluru.
Kumawat made it to the Top 20 at the national pageant, which was held in Jaipur on August 23. Kerala’s Kaziah Liz Mejo won the title from a field of 52 contestants.
But it is what Kumawat did after the pageant that has now caught the internet’s attention.
On September 14, she shared a one-minute “day in my life” video from Google’s Bengaluru campus, showing what a regular workday looks like for her after the pageant.
Who Is Umanga Kumawat?
Kumawat is a technology professional based in Bengaluru.
Her LinkedIn profile identifies her as a Cloud Engineer II at Google. She has previously shared that she was promoted to the role after starting her career at Google as a Cloud Engineer.
Her professional experience includes cloud technologies, application development and generative AI, according to reports citing her public professional profile.
She also has a background in computer science and computer networking.
And then there is pageantry.
In 2026, Kumawat represented Madhya Pradesh at Miss Universe India, eventually making it to the Top 20.
So, What Does A Cloud Engineer At Google Do?
In simple terms, a cloud engineer works with the technology that allows companies to build, run and manage applications and services using cloud infrastructure.
That can involve areas such as cloud computing, software development, infrastructure and AI-related technologies.
For Kumawat, her public professional profile lists experience across cloud technologies, application development and generative AI.
So while one part of her life involves pageant stages and national competitions, the other involves technology, code, cloud infrastructure and AI.
What Does Her Google Workday Look Like?
Kumawat’s 14 September video gives a glimpse into her routine at Google’s Bengaluru campus.
Her day starts around 9:30 am, when she gets ready for work and heads to the office with her laptop, backpack and earbuds.
Before settling into work, she visits the campus wellness centre, where she spends some time on the treadmill and does stretches and leg exercises.
By around 12:30 pm, she is at her desk with her laptop and documents.
Then comes lunch.
At around 2:10 pm, Kumawat heads to the Google cafeteria, which offers options including biryani, fruit and dessert. She chooses noodle soup with greens.
She returns to work at around 3 pm and later moves to a quieter lounge area to continue working.
By 5:30 pm, she heads for a break at the tea and coffee area before wrapping up her day.
From The Pageant Stage To The Google Campus
Kumawat’s story stands out because her pageant experience is not replacing her existing career.
She competed at one of India’s biggest beauty pageants and represented a state on a national stage. Then she returned to the same technology career she had before the competition.
Her latest video simply shows the other side of that life: a laptop, office meetings, a cafeteria lunch, a workout and a regular workday.
For now, the pageant stage is over. The Google workday continues.
