A 32-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman were found dead inside a locked car in Noida on the morning of February 14, prompting a police investigation and competing claims from both families.

According to police, Sumit and Rekha were discovered with gunshot wounds inside a locked car parked near Sector 39 in Noida. The vehicle was reportedly locked from the inside when officers arrived at the scene.

What Police Have Said So Far

Investigators stated that a pistol was recovered from Sumit’s hand. He was found in the driver’s seat. Police also said empty cartridges were found inside the vehicle.

Initial findings suggest that Sumit allegedly shot Rekha before turning the weapon on himself. However, officials have emphasised that the investigation is ongoing and that all aspects of the case are being examined.

According to the sources, Sumit left a message on WhatsApp, detailing on his 15-year-long relationship with Rekha and the reason to die by suicide. The message read: "I, Sumit, is going to commit suicide. Rekha is responsible for this because she was in a relationship with me for 15 years and promised me she would marry me, and now she is going to marry someone else. That is why I am committing suicide because Rekha has betrayed me."

Allegations From Both Families

The case has taken a complex turn with allegations from both sides.

Sumit’s family has alleged foul play and claimed that the couple faced caste-based threats. Relatives said they had received taunts and threatening calls over the relationship.

Meanwhile, Rekha’s family alleged that she had previously faced harassment from Sumit and that a complaint had been filed earlier. They said the relationship had recently become strained and that her family had begun arranging her marriage elsewhere due to caste differences.

Investigation Underway

Police have said that the locked condition of the car and the recovery of the weapon point towards a possible murder-suicide. However, officials have added that all angles, including the allegations made by both families, are being thoroughly investigated.

Authorities have not issued a final conclusion and have urged the public to avoid speculation as forensic and legal procedures continue.
