Taiwanese actor Cheng Chang Fan is once again at the centre of online speculation, this time over an old social media post that appears to contain a personal statement about his sexuality

The post has resurfaced just days after Cheng's photos and videos with an Indian woman went viral, with social media users questioning whether the two are romantically involved and revisiting his older posts about the LGBTQ+ community

There is an important distinction, though: the old post and the current relationship are two separate matters

A screenshot circulating online appears to show a post from an account attributed to Cheng Chang Fan

In the post, shared in connection with his 2020 drama Craving You, Cheng appears to address his gay friends and write: “I am very proud of being a gay!”

The same screenshot encourages people to stand up, raise their voices and be proud of themselves

Another older post attributed to Cheng has also resurfaced, with hashtags including #gay, #gaymarriage, #loveislove and #gayrights, according to reports.

The screenshots are now being widely discussed because of Cheng's recent social media activity with an Indian woman

However, the original posts should be treated as archived social media material attributed to Cheng unless independently authenticated from the original account. A screenshot by itself does not establish when or under what circumstances it was posted.

Does this prove Cheng Chang Fan is gay?

The screenshot contains a first-person statement that appears to identify Cheng as gay, if the post is authentic and genuinely came from his account

That makes it different from simply saying that he played a gay character or supported LGBTQ+ rights

Cheng played Kyan in Craving You, a Taiwanese romance drama released in 2020. But his acting role alone would not say anything about his personal sexuality.

At the same time, there does not appear to be a recent, independently verified public statement from Cheng addressing his sexuality in the context of the current controversy

For that reason, the safest wording is to say that an old post attributed to Cheng appears to contain a statement in which he described himself as gay, rather than presenting the resurfaced screenshot as a definitive statement of his current identity

The two reportedly first crossed paths in India in 2025, when Cheng was welcomed at a hotel by a female staff member who performed a traditional aarti and applied a tilak to his forehead. A video of the interaction later attracted attention online.

This year, Cheng shared new content showing him with an Indian woman believed by social media users to be the same person

One video showed the two hugging and twirling together. Cheng also shared photographs with the woman and wrote warmly about Indian women and the impression his first meeting with her had left on him.

That was enough for social media users to start describing the two as a couple

But there is still no official confirmation from either of them.

Is Cheng Chang Fan dating the Indian woman?

It has not been confirmed.

Cheng's posts have certainly fuelled speculation. His captions are affectionate, and the videos show the two sharing what appears to be a close relationship.

But neither Cheng nor the woman has publicly confirmed that they are dating. Recent reports have made the same distinction, describing the relationship as a rumour rather than an established fact.
