Shah further alleged that Rahul Gandhi often travels abroad during key parliamentary sessions and later claims he was not allowed to speak.
Responding to complaints from Opposition MPs, Shah said microphones in the House are turned off only when members violate rules or disrupt proceedings.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah defended Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla during the debate on the motion seeking his removal.
Referring to Article 94(c) of the Constitution, Shah said a Speaker can be removed only under exceptional circumstances and requires an effective majority in the Lok Sabha, unlike the Prime Minister who can be removed with a simple majority.
He also rejected claims that Opposition leaders were not allowed to speak in the House, calling such allegations “false propaganda.”
Shah said Birla had shown “moral courage” by participating in the debate and added that parliamentary rules require the Speaker not to occupy the Chair when a motion for removal is under discussion.
Citing Article 96, he noted that in previous instances when such motions were debated, other presiding officers conducted the proceedings.
