In 2021, he won four silver and three bronze medals at the Junior National Aquatic Championships. He also won bronze at the Latvia Open that year.
In April 2022, he won silver in the 1500m freestyle at the Danish Open in Copenhagen. He later won gold in the 800m freestyle at the same competition.

At the 48th Junior National Aquatic Championships in Bhubaneswar, Vedaant won the 1500m freestyle and clocked 16:01.73, breaking the previous National Junior Record of 16:06.43.

One of Vedaant's biggest medal hauls came at the Khelo India Youth Games 2022, which were held in Madhya Pradesh in 2023.
Representing Maharashtra, he won seven medals: five gold and two silver.
His gold medals came in the 100m, 200m and 1500m freestyle events, while he won silver in the 400m and 800m freestyle.

At the 79th Senior National Aquatics Championships, he finished fourth in the men's 200m freestyle final with a time of 1:53.89.
He also recorded 51.79 seconds in the 100m freestyle and 4:08.63 in the 400m freestyle.
His results helped put the focus on him ahead of the Asian Games, where he was selected as part of India's swimming contingent.
Vedaant Madhavan At Asian Games 2026
Vedaant made his Asian Games debut on 21 September 2026 in the men's 4x200m freestyle relay.
He swam alongside Sajan Prakash, Dhakshan Shashikumar and Aneesh Sunil Kumar Gowda.
The Indian quartet clocked 7:24.32 and finished ninth among 13 teams in the heats. The top eight advanced to the final, with Qatar taking the eighth and final qualifying spot in 7:24.10.
That meant Vedaant's first Asian Games race ended without a final appearance.
