Avinash Mishra adds a major title to his television career. The actor won Khatron Ke Khiladi 15, beating Rithvik Dhanjani and Orry in the finale. He completed the final stunt in the fastest time to lift the trophy.
The win comes nearly a decade after Mishra made his television debut. Before entering the stunt reality show, he had built his career through television fiction and reality TV, including a fourth-place finish on Bigg Boss 18.
But who is Avinash Mishra, and how did he get here?
Who Is Avinash Mishra?
Avinash Mishra was born on 9 December 1995. He grew up in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, and later moved to Mumbai to pursue acting.
Mishra has spoken about wanting to become an actor since childhood. In a 2022 interview with The Times of India, he said extracurricular activities during his school years helped him discover his interest in performing.
His journey did not begin with a lead television role.
Before getting his first TV opportunity, Mishra worked in advertisements and print shoots. He also underwent acting workshops. In an earlier interview, he recalled spending months trying to find opportunities in Raipur before moving to Mumbai, where he continued with advertisements and auditions.
From Sethji To Yeh Teri Galiyan
Mishra made his television debut in 2017 with Sethji, where he played Bajirao.
The same year, he appeared in shows including Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya, Ishqbaaaz and Love On The Run. He later featured in Zindagi Ke Crossroads and Mariam Khan – Reporting Live.
His career took a bigger turn with Yeh Teri Galiyan, where he played Shantanu Mazumdar from 2018 to 2020.
He went on to appear in Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke, Durga – Mata Ki Chhaya, Nath – Zewar Ya Zanjeer, Titli and Meetha Khatta Pyaar Hamara.
By 2024, Mishra had also moved into reality television with Bigg Boss 18.
Bigg Boss 18 Changed His Reality TV Profile
Mishra entered Bigg Boss 18 in 2024 and remained in the competition until the final week.
He was eventually evicted in fourth place in the grand finale, with Karan Veer Mehra winning the season.
His appearance on the show also brought him wider attention outside scripted television.
It was after this reality TV stint that Mishra entered Khatron Ke Khiladi 15 as one of the newer contestants.
Then Came Khatron Ke Khiladi 15
The 15th season of Khatron Ke Khiladi brought together returning contestants and new faces, with Rohit Shetty as host. The season was filmed in Cape Town and followed the Champions vs Challengers format.
Mishra's run on the show stood out for his performance in several stunts, particularly water-based tasks. According to Hindustan Times, he did not abort any stunt during his journey.
The finale began with five contestants: Farrhana Bhatt, Orry, Avinash Mishra, Rithvik Dhanjani and Karan Wahi.
Karan Wahi and Farrhana Bhatt were eliminated during the earlier finale tasks, leaving Mishra, Rithvik and Orry to compete for the title.
The Final Stunt
The final task combined several challenges.
The contestants had to jump from a helicopter, ride a jet ski and swim to the endpoint, where the stunt concluded with a blast.
Mishra finished the task in the fastest time, beating Rithvik Dhanjani and Orry to become the winner of Khatron Ke Khiladi 15.
The victory was significant for Mishra because, as he said after the finale, he had spent around a decade in the industry without winning a trophy.
What Did Avinash Mishra Win?
Mishra took home more than the Khatron Ke Khiladi 15 trophy.
His prize package included:
Rs. 20 lakh in cash
A Maruti Suzuki Swift
A trip to Europe
Rithvik Dhanjani finished as the first runner-up, while Orry was the second runner-up.
For Mishra, the victory marks another step in a career that has moved from advertisements and television fiction to two major reality shows.
And after finishing fourth on Bigg Boss 18, he now has a reality TV trophy of his own.
