Yung DSA’s real name is Harsh Vijay Machare. He comes from Yerwada in Pune, Maharashtra, and has built his identity around the city’s local culture, language and street influences.
His music combines desi hip-hop with trap production and Indian musical influences. His connection to Pune is especially visible in his lyrics and the way he represents Yerwada in his music.
Yung has also said that he started rapping at the age of 12. His early music journey included self-produced work before he began getting wider recognition.

From BPO Shifts To Rap
Before becoming a full-time musician, Yung DSA worked at a BPO while supporting his family and pursuing music.
He continued developing his craft alongside his job, releasing tracks such as ‘Yung Sitar’ in 2021 and ‘Sangeet’ in 2023.
His music drew from his Pune roots, Marathi culture and Indian instruments. He has also spoken about bringing the sitar and his culture into hip-hop.
That journey eventually led to the song that changed his career, ‘Yeda Yung’.

‘Yeda Yung’ Changed The Game
Released in September 2024 through Gully Gang Records, ‘Yeda Yung’ became Yung DSA’s major breakthrough.
The track carries references to Pune and Yerwada and helped take him beyond the independent hip-hop circuit. Its official release credits Yung DSA as the artist, vocalist, lyricist and composer, with the music produced by YD Year Down.
The song’s success also changed his day-to-day life.
Yung told Rolling Stone India that after ‘Yeda Yung’ took off, he was able to leave his BPO job and focus on music full-time.
He followed it with tracks including ‘Maaf Kar’, ‘Chala Kalti’, ‘Rade Rapate’ and ‘Fachadi’, building a catalogue around his distinct Pune-rooted sound.

Yerwada is central to Yung DSA’s identity. During the Bigg Boss 20 premiere on 6 September 2026, Salman Khan joked about knowing the Pune locality after Yung mentioned it. Yung also spoke about being mocked and said he chose to answer through his music.
