India’s T20 World Cup victory celebrations have sparked a legal complaint involving cricketer Hardik Pandya.
A Pune-based advocate has approached the police alleging that the Indian national flag was disrespected during the celebration event held at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The complaint is based on a video from the celebrations that later circulated widely on social media.

A video from the event shows Hardik Pandya during the celebration alongside actor Mahieka Sharma. In the clip, the Indian flag appears draped over him while he is on the podium.

Who Filed The Complaint
The complaint was filed by Pune-based advocate Wajid Khan Bidkar.
According to ANI footage, Bidkar alleged that the manner in which the flag appeared during the celebration amounted to disrespect to the national flag.
He urged authorities to examine the video and take appropriate legal action if required.
The Law Mentioned In The Complaint
The complaint cites the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971.
The law protects national symbols, including the Indian national flag.
It prohibits actions such as:
• Burning the flag
• Defacing or damaging it
• Trampling on it
• Showing disrespect to it in public view
Authorities typically examine the context and evidence before deciding whether an act violates the law.

What The Punishment Can Be
If a violation is established under the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971, the law allows:
• Up to three years of imprisonment, or
• A fine, or
• Both

The complaint has been submitted to the police.
