CCTV showed the exact moment the Delhi building came crashing down
A 50-year-old, five-storey building housing a boys’ PG accommodation collapsed in Delhi’s Satya Niketan, near Delhi University’s South Campus, on 6 September.
As of publishing, six people had lost their lives, while several others were trapped under the rubble.
CCTV footage from the site captured the moment the building suddenly came crashing down.
Rescue teams from the NDRF, Delhi Fire Services, Delhi Police and other agencies rushed to the site, as operations continued to locate those trapped and clear the debris.
Following the incident, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta ordered strict action against MCD officials responsible for any lapses and directed that illegal five-storey buildings across Delhi be sealed as a safety measure.
She said there would be no compromise on public safety and those responsible for negligence would face action.
