Masked men allegedly broke into TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee’s office on Camac Street in Kolkata early on 3 September 2026 and vandalised furniture and electronic equipment. Banerjee alleged that the men also took electronic items and mobile phones.
The Trinamool Congress alleged that around 300 people linked to the BJP were involved. BJP Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar rejected the allegation, saying there was “nothing like it”.
Banerjee sought action from West Bengal Governor, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He described the incident as “political thuggery”.
As of publishing, Kolkata Police had detained six people and was investigating the incident.
