"Cancel passports of..." Speaking in the Rajya Sabha, BJP MP Radha Mohan Das Agrawal raised concerns about children settling abroad while leaving their ageing parents behind in India. He said many parents make emotional and financial sacrifices, even selling land, to support their children’s migration, only to be gradually abandoned. Agrawal urged the Ministry of External Affairs to explore measures such as cancelling passports of individuals who fail to care for or stay in contact with their parents, and suggested introducing a “satisfaction certificate” from parents.
