A family of three died after falling from a 200–250-foot cliff in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar on 21 August. Police said Kunal Chandgude had threatened to die by suicide and went to the edge of the cliff.
His mother Sangeeta Chandgude, father Murlidhar, police and fire brigade personnel tried to convince him to step away. After nearly three hours, Murlidhar tried to pull Kunal back, but both fell. Sangeeta fell moments later.
Police have ruled out reports that Kunal was upset over an iPhone, saying the family already owned iPhones. Sangeeta’s YouTube videos about family and personal issues have also come under investigation as police probe allegations of family discord.
