A nine-year-old Class 3 student died after collapsing inside her classroom at Lovely Heritage School in Mayur Vihar Phase 2, East Delhi, on 4 November. The incident was captured on the school's CCTV cameras. According to reports, the girl collapsed after returning to her classroom following a games period. Her teacher rushed to her and tried to place her on a chair before carrying her out for medical assistance. School staff first took the child to a hospital in Pandav Nagar. She was subsequently referred to Malik Hospital in Nirman Vihar, where doctors declared her dead. The girl's family questioned the medical assistance provided after she collapsed. Her relatives alleged that she was not given timely first aid or CPR and raised concerns about the school's arrangements for handling medical emergencies. Principal Bhawna Malik said the school had immediately taken the girl to hospital. She also said a nurse was present on the premises and that staff had noticed a bleeding injury on the child's chin. Responding to questions about CPR, Malik said staff initially believed the girl's condition could be linked to the chin injury. The principal said doctors had attributed the death to cardiac arrest. However, police said the exact cause of death would be established through a post-mortem examination. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and have examined the CCTV footage.
