Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi accused Union Home Minister Amit Shah of authorising police firing on students during protests against the paper leak issue. Speaking in the Lok Sabha, Gandhi alleged that students were targeted during the protests and questioned the government’s response. Union Minister Jitendra Singh rejected the allegation, saying no minister orders firing and that such decisions are taken by the magistrate. Gandhi and Opposition leaders raised questions during the discussion on the anti-paper leak Bill in Parliament. The Opposition also pointed out the absence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah during the discussion. Singh said Gandhi’s allegations were not supported by evidence.
