India-China face-offs in Arunachal Pradesh are continuing, Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Director General Shatrujeet Kapur has said, confirming that confrontations took place at several locations along the border. “In recent days, there was a situation in Arunachal Pradesh where there was a face-off at different locations, which is still continuing,” Kapur said. He also praised the ITBP’s Shaurya commando teams for their response during the stand-offs. The ITBP guards the 3,488-km-long Line of Actual Control (LAC) between India and China. Reports of a stand-off emerged from the Taksing area of Arunachal Pradesh in July 2026. Kapur also spoke about the challenges of competing with China through traditional methods. He said China had modernised and invested heavily in its People’s Liberation Army (PLA), adding that drone technology could allow a smaller country to compete with a larger one. The confirmation comes amid questions from the Opposition over the Centre’s response to the reported border confrontations. Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi said the Union Home Minister, Defence Minister and External Affairs Minister should answer questions about the situation. She questioned statements about efforts to normalise relations with China in the context of repeated rhetoric and called for those responsible to address the matter, citing national security and national interest. At the time of publishing, there had been no reaction from the Centre.
