We have those where I live. I didn't know what it was. But I knew it liked nectar. So, we just thought it was a type of hummingbird. Yet a Month in looks. I love seeing them around our Azaleas.

Thanks,l have written about it some months ago in the face book, but nobody responded about this till date. This moth in frequant intervels visiting a Raja malli tree, in front of our house and suck honey from flowers. At first l mistook it as a humming bird. I confirmed it as humming bird moth, from. U tube, I still wonder how the nature has copied Hummingbird and created it as a moth.. . This is a wonderful work as this moth had all feaeatures of a bird including wings tails eyes and except legs and beaks. Thanks once again to brute nature.

I have seen a species of this kind of a moth very often in my part of southern India and wondered how come that was very much similar to hummingbird. Convergent evolution, very good explanation for those who know about it. Wonderful !
