A simple conversation between a daughter and her father has sparked a wider discussion about intercaste relationships, parenting and social expectations.

Drishti Sindhi shared a video of herself telling her father, Naveen, that she was in a relationship and wanted to marry her boyfriend. The moment quickly spread online. Many viewers focused on the father’s calm and supportive reaction.

In the conversation, the daughter openly tells her father that her relationship is intercaste. His response remains steady throughout. For him, the key question is not caste or income but whether his daughter is happy.

The video later gathered thousands of comments. Some viewers praised the father’s attitude while others shared their own experiences with family resistance.

The Moment She Told Her Father

Drishti recalls feeling nervous before speaking to him.

She says she worried about how he might react. According to her, her father had never even raised his voice at her before. That uncertainty made the conversation difficult.

When she finally told him about the relationship, she also mentioned that it was an intercaste match.

Naveen says he felt no shock.

He explains that he reacted normally and did not see the situation as a problem. For him, the fact that his daughter was honest about her relationship mattered more than anything else.

He also says society did not influence his reaction.

According to him, society will always have opinions, but parents ultimately live with their children, not with society.

“Every Person Is A Human Being”

During the conversation, Naveen repeatedly returns to a simple idea. He believes people are just people, regardless of caste or religion.

He says no one is born with a label. According to him, divisions are created by society later.

For that reason, he says the caste of the boy never mattered to him. When his daughter mentioned the relationship, he did not ask which caste the boy belonged to.

He says the most important thing for him is his child’s happiness.

If his daughter is happy, he says that is enough for him.

Not About Money Either

Another moment in the conversation focuses on income.

Drishti asks her father whether it would matter if her boyfriend earned less money than her.

Naveen says it would not be a problem.

He explains that income differences are normal in relationships. Sometimes the man earns more and sometimes the woman does.

According to him, relationships cannot work if everything is measured only through money.

He says financial status should not decide whether two people can be together.

The Internet Reaction

After the video circulated online, many viewers responded in the comments.

Some said they wished their own parents had reacted the same way.

Others shared stories about relationships that did not work out because families refused to accept intercaste marriages.

One comment that stood out said, “Every girl deserves a father like him.”

Another viewer wrote that seeing the video encouraged him to accept his own daughter’s relationship.

Drishti says the video received around 30,000 comments. She read several of them to her father during their discussion.

Many viewers also questioned whether his reputation in society might be affected.

Naveen says he believes the opposite happened. According to him, people in his community started recognising him and appreciating his decision.

He says his daughter did nothing wrong because she simply chose to get married.

His Own Love Story

During the conversation, Naveen also talks about his own past.

He says his relationship with his wife began years ago when he was living in Nepal and she lived in Raipur.

At that time, communication was difficult. Mobile phones were not common, so they relied on letters and occasional phone calls from a neighbour’s house.

He says the relationship faced resistance from people around them.

Eventually his wife left home and joined him. In the beginning, they had limited money and no house of their own. For some time she stayed at another person’s home until they could rent a place.

He says that period marked the start of their life together.

Later, he says, things gradually improved.

A Message For Parents And Young People

Towards the end of the discussion, both father and daughter speak about relationships more broadly.

Drishti says many young people are afraid to talk to their parents about relationships, especially intercaste ones.

She encourages people to at least try to speak with their families before making any major decisions.

Naveen also shares advice for parents.

He says when children tell their parents about a relationship, parents should not react immediately with anger. Instead, he suggests they should take time to think and understand the situation.

According to him, the conversation itself matters.

For him, the most important thing is that children feel they can speak openly with their parents.
