A hit-and-run in Gurugram, where a woman biker was allegedly hit by a car on Golf Course Road, made headlines this week. Police arrested the accused driver, Kalyan Bainsla, in Rajasthan on 15 September.

Now, a separate case in Greater Noida has drawn attention after CCTV footage of a road collision surfaced. A man crossing the road was hit by a car, and the driver allegedly left the spot.

What happened next, and how did police trace the vehicle?

What Happened In Greater Noida?

The incident took place at around 4:35 am on 5 September near Ek Murti Chowk in Greater Noida West.

The victim, identified in reports as Himanshu Rai, had gone out with his wife to buy a cake for his birthday. While crossing the road, he was struck by a Tata Punch that was allegedly travelling at high speed.

CCTV footage shows Rai entering the road with the cake in his hands before the car hits him. The impact throws him into the air and out of the camera's frame. The cake can then be seen lying on the road.

According to the reports, Rai suffered multiple fractures, including injuries to his legs, hand, knees and spine. He was taken to hospital and remained under treatment. NDTV reported that he was in the ICU.

What Did The Police Do?

Bisrakh police traced the vehicle and arrested the driver, according to The Times of India.

The Tata Punch involved in the collision was also recovered and seized by the police as part of the investigation.

CCTV footage of the incident is also being used in the investigation. It captures the collision and the moments immediately around it.

What These Cases Raise About Road Safety

The two incidents also raise a broader question about road safety in the Delhi-NCR region.

While the circumstances of the Gurugram and Greater Noida cases are different, both involve road users being hit by cars and footage capturing the incidents. That footage can provide investigators with evidence about what happened on the road.

The cases also bring familiar road-safety concerns into focus, including speeding, pedestrian safety and the need for drivers to remain alert on busy roads.

For those involved in a collision, what happens after the crash matters too. Leaving the scene can affect the police investigation and the legal process that follows.

The Greater Noida case is now being investigated based on the available evidence.
