A woman biker was hit by a car on Gurugram’s Golf Course Road on 13 September 2026, in an incident captured on camera that has since led to a police investigation.
The biker, who goes by Sia online, was riding with a group when the collision took place. The car left the scene after the crash, according to reports. Accused driver Kalyan Bainsla has acknowledged the collision but denied deliberately hitting her, while Sia has given a different account of what happened before the crash.
Police have examined CCTV footage and, on 15 September, added Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deals with attempt to murder, to the case.
The incident comes amid India’s wider road-safety concerns. NCRB data recorded 4,67,967 road accidents and 1,75,142 deaths in 2024.

What Happened On Golf Course Road?
According to Sia's complaint and statements, she was riding an Aprilia RS 457 with a group of bikers towards The Biker's Barn cafe at around 7am on 13 September.
She alleged that a white Maruti Suzuki Ciaz began following her and that its occupants behaved aggressively and asked her to stop. She said she tried to maintain distance from the car.
The collision was captured by an action camera mounted on her motorcycle.
Footage shared online shows the car moving towards the motorcycle before hitting it. Sia fell onto the road, while her motorcycle was dragged for several metres. Her complaint states that the bike was dragged for nearly 300 metres.
Her friends tried to chase the car after the collision, but the driver left the area.
Sia later said, "I have nothing to say, but today I felt unsafe on Gurugram roads. People like this aren't afraid of hitting people and running away."
Who Is Kalyan Bainsla?
Police identified Kalyan Bainsla as the alleged driver.
Bainsla is described in reports as a gym owner and trainer from Haryana's Palwal area. On Instagram, he described himself as an "international kabaddi player" and a member of the "Indian rugby team". He has also said to have won the Amateur Olympia India bodybuilding competition.
NDTV reported that these sporting claims could not be independently verified. His Instagram account has since been deactivated.
The car involved in the incident belonged to a friend, Manish, who told the media that he was serving with the Army in Assam when the incident happened. He said Bainsla had borrowed the car from his family.

What Did Bainsla Say?
Bainsla has denied deliberately hitting Sia.
In media interviews before his detention, he said the collision happened when he lost control of the car near a U-turn. He also claimed that he was travelling with his sister and two cousins.
Explaining why he left the scene, Bainsla said: "Had I stopped right then, those people would have beaten us up."
He also claimed that the biker was travelling at around 140–170 kmph and suggested that the collision happened as the two vehicles changed direction. He said he did not initially know that the biker was a woman.
In another interview, he said: "I felt very sorry for that girl." He also argued that only one side of the incident had been shown.

Who Is Sia?
Sia is a biker and Instagram creator who runs the page @rebelwheels_sia_. She regularly posts about motorcycling and was riding with a group on Gurugram’s Golf Course Road when the collision took place on 13 September.
Sia has rejected Bainsla’s account of what happened.
Responding to his claim that he felt sorry for her, she asked: “If you really felt sorry for me, then why didn’t you stop?”
She said footage from the ride showed the car following her and moving across lanes before colliding with her motorcycle.
Sia also rejected Bainsla’s claim that he did not know a woman was riding the bike.
“You saw my hair. You came close to me. You made gestures. You signalled for me to stop the bike,” she said.
Sia said the collision could have had a much more serious outcome.
“I could have suffered much more serious injuries. My bones could have been broken. I could have died on the spot,” she said.
Her brother later said she suffered abrasions, muscle pulls and body aches following the crash.

What Has Police Action Been?
Gurugram Police first took suo motu cognisance after the crash video surfaced online and registered an FIR at Sector 56 police station.
The case initially involved provisions relating to rash driving and causing injury. Police then examined CCTV footage from the area.
On 15 September, police said they had added Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deals with attempt to murder. Bainsla was arrested in Rajgarh, Rajasthan, according to Gurugram Police and Times of India.
Section 109 provides for imprisonment of up to 10 years and a fine. If hurt is caused by the act, the law also allows for life imprisonment or the punishment otherwise prescribed under the section.
The addition of the section is a police allegation at the investigation stage. Whether the charge is ultimately established will depend on the evidence and court proceedings.
For now, the case has moved beyond a viral video. Police have detained the accused, examined CCTV footage and escalated the charges while the investigation continues.
