Ashokkumar Eknath Kharat is a Nashik-based astrologer currently under investigation in a multi-layered case involving allegations of sexual exploitation, financial misconduct and ritual-based practices.
A former Merchant Navy officer, he later turned to astrology and claimed to offer solutions to personal and marital problems. According to Hindustan Times, he charged clients large sums, often in lakhs.

How The Case Began
The case initially emerged from allegations of sexual exploitation.
According to The Indian Express, a former staff member approached the police after learning about an alleged assault and installed a hidden camera inside Kharat’s office. The footage was later submitted as evidence.
Authorities said they recovered over 100 videos, which are now part of the investigation.
Officials are now examining whether the footage points to a repeated and organised pattern of alleged exploitation.
What The Investigation Has Found

The footage allegedly shows women being given substances, appearing disoriented, and then being sexually exploited, as per The Indian Express.
Separately, according to a Times of India report, investigators told a court that in one case the accused allegedly gave a victim a “salty and bitter” liquid that left her light-headed. The Special Investigation Team is examining what the substance contained.
Investigators are also analysing a cloned copy of his seized phone as part of the probe.

The ‘Mystical Honey’ Angle
A separate element that drew attention is the mention of a rare honey linked to the case.
According to NDTV, investigators are examining claims around a product described as “Elvish honey”, reportedly sourced from Turkey and considered among the most expensive in the world.
The report states that Kharat allegedly sold it as “mystical honey” at significantly higher prices, claiming it could improve health and youthfulness.
Investigators are examining whether such products were used to build credibility and influence clients.
What Survivors Have Alleged
In one complaint, a woman told police that Kharat gained her trust by promising to resolve her personal issues.
She alleged that he isolated her during a visit, made her consume substances, and sexually assaulted her. She further claimed the abuse continued over multiple visits across several years.
Another account, reported by India Today, describes an alleged incident where a pregnant woman was taken inside a private cabin for a ritual while her partner was asked to wait outside. She later alleged inappropriate physical contact during the ritual.
How He Allegedly Operated
Investigators say a pattern has emerged.
Couples were reportedly called in together. The male partner was then asked to step outside, while the woman remained inside under the pretext of rituals.

Scale Of The Case Expands
The scope of the case has widened.
According to The Hindu, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said a Special Investigation Team is probing the matter.
Recent reports indicate that 10 FIRs have been registered against Kharat so far, eight of them related to allegations of rape.
Other Angles Under Probe
The case has expanded beyond sexual exploitation.
According to India Today, investigators are also looking into allegations of financial misconduct, including claims that certain items were sold as “energised” objects at high prices.
Separately, a land dispute linked to the accused has surfaced. A family has alleged that a relative’s death, earlier reported as an accident, may be connected to the dispute. These claims are under investigation and have not been established.
Officials are also examining properties and assets linked to the accused.

Kharat has been arrested in connection with sexual assault allegations.
