American content creator Justin Ho entered an alleged fraudulent call centre in Delhi with people dressed as SpongeBob characters. A security guard intervened as the group entered the office. Ho told Brut that the operation was a fraudulent call centre. His group also brought Tung Tung Sahur lookalikes into another alleged call centre. Fake call centres in India have been accused of impersonating companies and targeting people overseas. Hindustan Times has reported cases involving US citizens being targeted through fake technical support and customer service scams. In one case, a fake call centre in Gurugram allegedly targeted users in the US, UK, Australia, Canada and New Zealand while using Microsoft’s name.
