As flamingos touched down, India’s largest inland salt lake turned pink

This winter, over 2 lakh flamingos arrived early on Jaipur’s Sambhar Lake, India’s largest inland salt lake, turning it pink. Owing to a seasonal migration, Sambhar lake provides an ideal habitat for these migratory birds. From late October to March, these birds stay by the lake, nesting and breeding to carry their lineage forward. Flamingos, originating from colder regions like Siberia, Russia and parts of Africa amongst many others travel thousands of Kilometers using the Central Asian highway.
