Delhi Capitals cricketer Abishek was arrested in West Bengal’s Hooghly over allegations that he had an intimate relationship with a woman on the pretext of marriage. A Karnataka student filed a complaint against Porel and his mother on assault and criminal intimidation. Police said a case was registered under multiple sections of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita and Information Technology Act, and Porel was arrested late on 10 August. As per Hindustan Times, the woman alleged that she and Porel were in a three-year relationship and that he later refused to marry her despite allegedly promising to do so. Porel denied the allegations, saying he would respond after the police investigation.
