A Delhi Police constable, Deepak Bangar, was suspended after Instagram reels showing him with firearms surfaced while he was deployed for security duty during the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi. Officials said Bangar was assigned rooftop sniper duty at a hotel where foreign delegates were staying.
One video showed him with a light machine gun while another showed a pistol and his BRICS Summit identity card. Footage also showed the surroundings from the rooftop.
The videos came to the attention of Delhi Police, following which Bangar was suspended and a departmental inquiry was ordered. The inquiry will examine the circumstances in which the videos were recorded and posted.
