Bike rider has close shave after landslide at Kalimpong
A landslide struck the Bindu area of West Bengal’s Kalimpong on 16 August, as vehicles and tourists were passing through the route.
A section of the hillside suddenly collapsed, sending rocks, mud, trees and debris onto the road and bringing traffic to a halt.
A biker narrowly escaped being caught in the falling debris and no injuries were reported.
The incident took place at a popular tourist region known for its hills, forests and scenic routes.
The steep terrain and heavy monsoon rainfall make parts of the region vulnerable to sudden landslides, posing risks to people travelling through these roads.
