A doctor was allegedly assaulted and his car vandalised by a mob after his vehicle hit a cow in Bichpuri village in Budaun, police said on Wednesday. The incident reportedly took place on Tuesday evening when Rahul Siddharth, a doctor posted at the Usawan Community Health Centre, was returning to Budaun in his car. According to police, the vehicle hit a cow on the road, following which a crowd gathered at the spot. The doctor was allegedly assaulted and his car was damaged. The cow, which was seriously injured in the incident, later died. Video of Budaun doctor assault goes viral A video purportedly showing the incident has circulated widely on social media. The footage appears to show several people surrounding and assaulting the doctor while his car is being damaged. Police personnel can also be seen at the scene in the purported video. The circumstances surrounding the incident and the actions of those seen in the footage are being examined by police. Locals allege doctor was drunk Some local residents alleged that the doctor was driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. They claimed that several beer cans were found inside his car. However, police said the doctor's medical examination did not find any traces of alcohol. Budaun City Superintendent of Police Abhishek Kumar Singh said the doctor underwent a medical examination on Tuesday before leaving for Moradabad. Four detained after viral video Police have detained four people for questioning based on the viral video, Singh said. The doctor is submitting a complaint on Wednesday. Police said further action will be taken after receiving the complaint and examining the available evidence. "A complaint is being submitted by the doctor today. Once it is received, action will be taken against the accused under relevant sections of law," Singh said, according to PTI.
