New CCTV footage from IIT Bombay’s examination hall has emerged, showing moments involving second-year student Sahil Wakode during an exam on 18 September. Wakode later lost his life, while investigators were probing the circumstances surrounding his death, including allegations of caste-based discrimination. The footage showed Wakode bending down during the examination, with a phone kept in his pocket, according to TOI. An invigilator then noticed his movements and took his answer sheet. Wakode collected his belongings and left the examination hall. IIT Bombay said Wakode had uploaded the question paper on ChatGPT to seek answers. A faculty member said students were frisked before the examination. The faculty member also raised a question about how Wakode had brought the phone into the examination hall. The CCTV footage has now shed light on the sequence of events during the examination as investigators examine what happened before Wakode’s death.
