Tourists at Pune’s Sinhagad Fort were allegedly assaulted after being confronted over their clothing, including shorts and sleeveless clothes. According to a complaint, four groups of tourists were allegedly stopped by members of the Samast Hindu Bandhav Army. A 39-year-old private firm manager alleged that three men slapped him, while a woman allegedly dragged his wife. Police registered a case against eight members of the outfit under charges including voluntarily causing hurt, unlawful assembly, rioting and criminal intimidation. Article 21 of the Constitution protects personal liberty. The incident has raised questions about confrontations over clothing choices at public places.
