A viral video has raised fresh concerns over food hygiene on Indian trains after a rat was spotted inside the pantry car of the 12173 Udyog Nagri Express, nibbling dough kept near other food supplies. As per reports, the video was recorded after a passenger returned to the pantry area to collect an item he had left behind and noticed the rat. The Udyog Nagri Express runs between Mumbai's Lokmanya Tilak Terminus and Maa Belha Devi Dham Pratapgarh in Uttar Pradesh. After the clip surfaced online, Railway Seva tagged the Mumbai railway division and asked the passenger to share the date and time of the incident so the matter could be investigated and appropriate action taken. At the time of reporting, the passenger had not publicly shared those details. The video has since triggered criticism over food storage and hygiene practices in railway pantry cars. However, there has been no public confirmation on whether the dough seen in the footage was served to passengers or what action, if any, was taken against the pantry operator.
