An Indian-origin man has been arrested in the United States after allegedly killing his wife and three relatives in a domestic violence incident in Georgia.

Three children survived the attack by hiding inside a closet, police said.

The incident reportedly began with an argument between 51-year-old Vijay Kumar and his wife, Meemu Dogra, at their home in Atlanta.

After the dispute, the couple drove to a relative’s house in Gwinnett County along with their 12-year-old child. The reason for the visit has not been disclosed.

At around 2.30 am, police received a call reporting gunfire at a home in Lawrenceville.

When officers arrived, they found four adults inside the house who had died from gunshot wounds.

During the shooting, the couple’s 12-year-old child, along with two other children aged seven and ten, hid inside a closet.

All three children were found unharmed.

Police said the 12-year-old called emergency services and shared key details that helped officers respond quickly.

Vijay Kumar was arrested and charged with multiple counts of murder, aggravated assault and cruelty to children.

Authorities said the investigation is ongoing.

The Indian Consulate in Atlanta confirmed it is providing assistance to the affected family.

The incident has renewed focus on the dangers of domestic violence and its impact on children.
