Workers ran to higher ground as a flash flood swept through Nepal’s Rasuwa district on 26 August, sending water and debris through the Bhote Koshi River area. The flood followed a glacial collapse and debris flow, according to the US Geological Survey. The workers were later rescued after reaching higher ground. The disaster affected areas along the Nepal-Tibet border, with nearly 1,500 people reported missing across Nepal and Tibet, including foreign nationals. Indians were among the largest groups reported missing. Those unaccounted for included Kailash Mansarovar pilgrims and members of the Isha Foundation. India offered assistance to Nepal as rescue teams searched for survivors. As of 1 PM on 27 August, at least 160 people had died in the disaster.
