Patients and attendants at Banaras Hindu University’s Sir Sundarlal Hospital in Varanasi had to move through waterlogged areas after heavy rain on Tuesday, 25 August. Reports said water remained across parts of the hospital campus even after the rain stopped.
Patients were seen using wheelchairs and stretchers through the water. Senior citizens and people carrying children also faced difficulty reaching hospital departments. Reports said access to the OPD and emergency areas was affected by the waterlogging.
Varanasi recorded 123.9 mm of rain in the 24 hours ending 8:30 am on Tuesday, according to the India Meteorological Department.
