A woman reportedly fell from a Mumbai local train between Diva and Mumbra on the Central Line on 10 September. According to The Times of India, the incident took place while the train was halted at a signal, and police were trying to trace the woman for further details. The incident has again brought attention to passenger safety on Mumbai’s suburban railway network. A 2024 Lok Sabha statement said the network served more than 7.5 million commuters daily, while falls from trains were among the causes of deaths on the network. In 2025, a Rajya Sabha intervention also cited daily passenger numbers of between 75 lakh and 1 crore on Mumbai’s suburban railway.
