A tourist bus carrying around 35 people overturned after crashing into a petrol pump at Kakkoor in Kerala’s Ernakulam district on Thursday, 27 August. According to police, the bus was carrying a wedding party travelling from Kalady. Police said CCTV footage showed a two-wheeler turning across the bus’s path. The bus driver then appeared to brake and swerve to avoid the two-wheeler, after which the bus left the road and hit the side of the petrol pump. At least 20 passengers were injured in the Kerala bus accident. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. Police were examining the CCTV footage as part of the investigation.
