A video from Amboli Waterfall in Maharashtra’s Sindhudurg district shows a snake falling from rocks onto the shoulder of a man carrying a child. The incident took place at the waterfall in the Sahyadri Hills and was recorded by a visitor. The snake slipped from the man and moved into gaps between the rocks before leaving the spot. A person in the video calls it a cobra, but the snake’s species has not been confirmed. A 2024 checklist of Maharashtra’s snakes documented 80 species and two subspecies across the state. It also records the Indian cobra, common krait, Russell’s viper and saw-scaled viper among Maharashtra’s snake species.
