A viral video of a woman in a black dress sparked a social media controversy after users claimed she was Tamil Nadu Industries Minister S Keerthana. Keerthana clarified on 23 August that the woman was not her and questioned why her clothes would matter even if she had been the person in the video. The woman was later identified as Malaysian national Vinosha Ravi. Ravi said the video was circulated without her knowledge and that she faced online abuse. She filed a complaint with Malaysian police over the circulation of the video and the messages she received. Keerthana apologised to Ravi for being dragged into the controversy and said she hoped Ravi would continue living on her own terms.
