Two sisters in Bhopal were arrested after two women alleged rape, blackmail and forced religious conversion linked to domestic job offers.
The accused, Amreen and Afreen, were arrested along with their associate Chandan Yadav.
Three others named in the FIR, Bilal, Chanu and Yasir, were absconding at the time of reporting.
What The FIR States
Two women, aged 21 and 32, approached Bagh Sewania police station with separate complaints.
According to the FIR, they were promised domestic work with a salary of Rs. 10,000 per month, along with free accommodation and food.
After accepting the offer, they alleged they were introduced to parties, pubs and lounges, and pressured to socialise with men.
They further alleged they were coerced into consuming alcohol and MD drugs, and in several instances, they were drugged and sexually assaulted.

Allegations By The Complainants
One complainant from Mungeli district in Chhattisgarh alleged she was taken to Ahmedabad in December 2025.
She alleged that Yasir raped her there. She also named Bilal and Chanu in connection with separate assaults.
The second complainant, a Bhopal resident who worked at Amreen’s house, alleged that Chandan Yadav raped her at a residence in Narayan Nagar.
She alleged she was threatened when she resisted.

Conversion Allegation
One complainant further alleged that she was pressured to convert her religion.
According to the FIR, she stated that she converted under pressure and was made to wear a burqa and offer prayers.
Police said they were investigating the allegations under relevant sections pertaining to rape and forced conversion.
Investigation Status
Mobile phones and digital communications were being examined.
Police said suspicious WhatsApp groups were found on one of the devices.
Additional DCP Gautam Solanki confirmed that a case had been registered and the accused were being questioned.
The investigation is ongoing.
Why This Matters
The case centres on informal job promises made to young women from economically weaker backgrounds.
The offer of salary, accommodation and relocation formed the basis of recruitment, according to the complaints.
It also highlights how digital communication platforms were allegedly used to coordinate movement and store photographs that were later cited as tools of blackmail.
For young people seeking employment outside their hometowns, especially in informal domestic work, the case underscores the risks linked to unverified job offers and relocation without formal contracts.
The Wider Context
Informal domestic work remains one of the least regulated employment sectors in India.
Job offers are often communicated through personal referrals or messaging platforms, with limited written documentation or verification.
According to data from the Periodic Labour Force Survey 2019–20 released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, India has around 4.75 million domestic workers.
A large proportion of this workforce operates in the informal sector without formal contracts or legal safeguards.
