Manipuri Woman Assaulted In Delhi Park After Alleged Racial Abuse

A Manipuri woman was allegedly assaulted by minors in Delhi’s Malviya Nagar after racial remarks. Police have apprehended four juveniles.

A Manipuri woman was allegedly assaulted by a group of minors in South Delhi’s Malviya Nagar on 9 March.

The incident took place in Satpula Park, located near the Saket District Court Complex.

According to the woman’s complaint, she was walking in the park with a friend when a group of boys began passing sexual comments and racial remarks.

Her friend is a transgender person from Assam.

The two were taking photos in the park when the situation began.

What The Woman Alleged Happened

The woman told police that six to seven boys started making comments at them.

When she objected and asked them to stop, the group allegedly became aggressive.

She alleged that the boys called them “prostitutes” and continued to shout racial slurs.

The confrontation soon turned physical.

According to the complaint, the boys began assaulting them with punches and belts.

Knife Threat And Injury

The woman also alleged that one of the boys pulled out a knife and attempted to stab her.

She ran from the spot but fell to the ground while trying to escape.

She alleged that one of the attackers then struck her on the back of the head with a belt.

Police said the woman suffered a head injury and swelling on her chin. The injuries were reported to be minor.

The victims said they called for help during the incident but no one intervened.

Police Action

After the assault, a distress call was made to the police.

Delhi Police reached the spot and registered a case.

Four juveniles aged around 15 to 16 were apprehended in connection with the case.

According to police, three of the boys are school dropouts. One is a Class 7 student in a government school.

Police also conducted raids in the area during the investigation.

Political Reactions

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma condemned the assault and called for strict action.

Former Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh also condemned the incident and said he welcomed the prompt police response.

Another Recent Case In Malviya Nagar

The incident follows another case reported recently in Malviya Nagar.

A couple was arrested after allegedly hurling racial slurs at three tenants from Arunachal Pradesh during a dispute inside a residential building.

The accused were identified as Ruby Jain and Harsh Singh. Police charged them after a video of the incident circulated online.

Helpline For North East Residents In Delhi

Delhi Police runs a dedicated helpline for people from the North East living in the capital.

The helpline number is 1093.

According to Delhi Police data, the helpline received more than 1,000 calls in 2025 related to incidents involving North East residents.
