More like the country that was over exploited by foreign powers until they (foreign powers ) saw that only little of the resource was left then decided to give it to them so they can be blamed for over exploiting it!.

You left out the last chapter where naru has been a prison camp for Australias unwanted refugees.

Wow i worked for company on Guam that use to service their planes .. the cabin had a distinctive oder. That would bother me each time ..

Bad investment policies, unsustainable resources, and close to zero effort to recover their own island when they were at their peak. Their inability to get out of their comfort zone for the sake of their own future.
