What is "pinkwashing"?

Every October, pink products flood the market for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. But some survivors are calling this trend of "pinkwashing" harmful. Here's why…

Funny thing is most of these products can cause cancer like processed/junk food, artificial sweetners, preservatives and plastics.

I strongly disagree. This undermines the whole aspect of Brest cancer awareness. Back in 1990’s no body even talked about breast cancer. Acknowledging breast itself was a taboo. It was taking so many lives as women were not aware of the symptoms and they were diagnosed at an end stage. Obviously lives were lost. The pink ribbon movement gained momentum in 2000’s, especially in the corporate world to raise awareness, and to tell women that speaking about breast cancer or asking for a mammogram is perfectly okay and they do not have to shy away. The movement have helped save lot many lives, by means of early diagnosis. And that meets the purpose of the movement. Obviously survivors might feel uncomfortable, when KFC is advertising about awareness, but think of it in lines with mandatory statutory warning in cigarettes. Breast cancer is currently one form of illness which has got an extremely good survival rate and recuperation rate. Whereas conditions like SLE, endometriosis are seldom researched about and patients are told repeatedly that it’s all in their head. Honestly life with breast cancer is relatively easy when compared to someone who suffer from endometriosis, due to complete lack of awareness and taboo surrounding the subject. Brut, why don’t you do a video on deep infiltrative endometriosis?? Or Lupus? Or MS? These are the things that are making life hell for the patients, than breast cancer. Each breast cancer survivor should thank the awareness campaign undertaken in the last few decades for their own survival.

Women. You don't support them, they don't want that. You support them, they don't want that either. Tell them to do something on their own, they don't want that either. Millions of dollars of good money is being wasted more and more on research of breast cancer which already has great survival rate, while many other forms of cancer don't even have a proper treatment methods.

It's just coincidence... Don't presume ...maybe some but not all...the main idea of this is all about profit....and I dont think that ot all those donations go to the victims itself.theres always a foul play with everything that involves MONEY...

Perhaps if all those donations disappeared she’d speak differently.

I've always been under the impression that these companies were contributing a percentage of these sales to cancer research.
